Greetings, bhumphrey, and welcome to Fooldom.

<<Both the House and the Senate recently passed some major tax legislation, including some provisions which affect IRA's. Does anyone know what the IRA-related provisions are? I tried searching the Congressional Record, but got hopelessly lost. I read in at least one newspaper that a new type of IRA would be created to which anyone could contribute, regardless of income. I thought that was already tru of existing IRS's, so what really is being proposed?>>

There are several proposals floating around the current Congress. None have been approved for the President's signature yet, let alone been enacted into law. Therefore, having watched this process before, I won't get excited about or interested in any of them until I can see a final product. Too much happens between the proposal announcement by some publicity-seeking politician and final enactment. Indeed, the final product rarely looks like the initial proposal. Me? Before I start discussing what's entailed, I want to see the final product. Any discussion before that point is pure speculation.
