The new Nasdaq 100 Index, stock quote "QQQ". How about putting 50% of my funds in this and the other 50% in a S&P 500 index? Then make monthly withdrawals to accompany my S.S. and pension? I keep a safety cushion of five years worth of supplemental funds in a money market.
This would provide wide diversation (600 companies) and also provide exposure to many international firms.

Are you sure it would be 600 companies? I have not checked, but I daresay that many of the top NASDAQ stocks are also in the S&P 500. This would double up on your exposure to those companies - which is not necesarrily a bad thing, but is something you will want to be aware of.

Respectfully,

Gemstarman
