Greetings, Foodguy3800, and welcome. You wrote:

I know we have a limit of 2000 per person (considering the AGI) for our Roth. I believe we also have a 20 percent limit for our 401(k), again with regard to how much money we make.

Can we have both or one or the other? Also a good url for tax information would be greatly appreciated.>>

Yes, you may have a Roth and participate in your 401k plans at the same time. You can find the limits and the tax issues involved discussed in my Foolish Retirement Plan Primer available at http://www.fool.com/Retirement/Retirement.htm. The percentage limit on your 401k plan can range up to 25% of compensation, but it can be lower depending on your plan document and any contributions made by your employer. Additionally, you cannot exceed a maximum of $10K even if your percentage limit would allow a higher dollar limit. As to the Roth, your contribution there is limited by your joint adjusted gross income and cannot exceed $2K each per year. The details are discussed in the previously furnished link.

Regards..Pixy
