Greetings, Jaredj1, and welcome. You asked:

When I left my last job, I had over $5,000 invested in my 401k. Unfortately with the sharp downturn in the stock market, the value of my investments in that 401k fell below $5,000. Will they tell me I need to roll it over into another retirment plan or can I let it sit until the value goes back up over time?

That's entirely up to the plan. Some would force the distribution, and others would not.

Regards..Pixy
