Greetings, Jtnilan, and welcome. You asked:

I am just starting to take my minimum distributions. At present, my IRA Beneficiary is a Living Trust. How do I calculate the distribution factor? Would it be better to change the Beneficiary to my wife?

There is a new methodology for calculating MRD that became effective this year. For details, see my articles at http://www.fool.com/Specials/2001/sp010125a.htm and at http://www.fool.com/retirement/retireeport/2001/retireeport010129.htm

Use of the new life expectancy table rather than the single life table you would have been otherwise required to use under the old rules during your lifetime should make the tax burden on required payments easier for you to bear.

Regards..Pixy
