Greetings,More globally, if VG is what I think most of us regard them as being, then why is it that they don't want to be a SIPC member, or at least have a private insurer backing the assets held under their mgmt? Could you back up that there isn't some private insurance for Vanguard's funds? IIRC, the topic of VG's MFs being insured has popped up numerous times on the "Vanguard Diehards" board with varying results most of which note that the funds' assets are in custodial accounts with a 3rd party.A few links about this from the Diehards:http://socialize.morningstar.com/NewSocialize/asp/FullConv.asp?forumId=F100000015&lastConvSeq=11582http://socialize.morningstar.com/NewSocialize/Asp/FullConv.asp?forumId=F100000015&convSeqNumber=19573http://socialize.morningstar.com/NewSocialize/asp/FullConv.asp?forumId=F100000015&lastConvSeq=6469http://www.diehards.org/ is where you could go and do a search if you want some other information for yourself.Regards,JB
