Greetings, Sue, and welcome. You asked:

<<I am about to retire in January at age 62. My employer's insurance will cover me for 18 months, but I'll need something once that ends until I'm covered by Medicare.

I've done a brief search, does anyone have a suggestion for companies that have affordable rates? I have a flyer from AARP, anybody with experience with them? >>

The rates for an individual policy will vary by the type of coverage you select, your age, your general health and the area where you live. There is no pat answer anyone can give you at this point because the price will be different when your COBRA coverage runs out in 18 months. Still, you can get a general idea of what you may obtain to include the cost by doing some preliminary research at www.QuickQuote.com. Then repeat that research at least 90 days before your present coverage ends.

Regards..Pixy
