Greetings, ValueSnark, I can't say for certain what your score will do, but if you are concerned about the drop in FICO (are you planning obtaining new credit soon that requires an above-average FICO score for the best interest rate?) then one strategy would be to convert your annual-fee Chase card to another type of Chase card that costs you NOTHING and ask them to transfer your credit longevity to the new card. Win-win. No cost to you, Chase keeps your business - even if you don't use the new card, or if you do, pay it off monthly - and your credit history remains intact. MBNA has done this numerous times for my fiance and his account with MBNA reflects a good credit history back to 1985 despite changes in card number. So it seems likely that Chase would also agree - just ask to speak to a supervisor and document whom you spoke with and when.
