Groundhogs (woodchucks) are an awful pest here, too, but their burrows are about 8" across. I've tried trapping them with a Havahart with no success, but the best tactic seems to be collapsing the burrow during the day when they're most likely inside. Since they usually have an escape hole, better find that, too!!. Just to be sure, I stick a root irrigator in the burrow and let it run for a couple of hours.
