GrumpyUS Army, RetiredThank you and your son's for your service to our country! FWIW, my son also chose to make the Army his career. He joined right out of High School and has done very well. He was never interested in going to college even though both I and his mother have advanced degrees. He is in the 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized) and was in the 'Tip of the Spear' in the initial invasion of Iraq. He was hit in the back with a round from an AK-47 but his body armor saved his life. He will be returning for a second tour in January 05, and we are cherishing our time together this Christmas. My son is extremely proud of his service to his country, and fully supports and believes in the mission, and will do everything in his power to help with the transition to a free Iraq. We are also very proud of him, and are keeping our fingers crossed that he will make it back safely. He is our only child.Russ
