>Does Apple need to stop people putting OS X on their HPs, Dells, Gateway, or homegrown Intel or AMD computer?

If they want to keep selling Macs at a premium price they do.

This has been discussed before, but has anyone heard or seen recent news or rumors about exactly how Apple will prevent Mac OS X from running on non-Apple hardware? Have I missed something in the past month?

With all the rumors about Mac minis with DVR capability, news about new video offerings on iTunes, speculation about Apple plasma TVs, meanderings about iLife '06 and iWork '06, questions about iPod shuffles, and blatherings about how dual-core Yonah iBooks will be so fast that they'll blow Power Mac G5 Quads out of the water, read minds, and travel backward in time just to prove the point, I've not seen any news or rumors about how Apple will keep Mac OS X for Intel running only on Apple hardware. With all the rumors, speculation, and leaks floating around rumor sites and message boards, I would have thought that this sort of DRM would have been discussed more than it apparently has been.
