I have been told that Visa gets rather upset when merchants refuse to accept their credit card for small amounts. I'd like to know what the deal really is, because I get rather irritated at these $10 minimum and soforth. I got highly incensed at a conference a while back that refused to accept credit cards for anything under $50, I think it was. This meant than anyone buying a exhibits-only pass couldn't use a credit card. I had to get a cash advance off my *personal* credit card to get a replacement badge because I needed the cash for cab fares.
