On a bright beautiful summer morning in Heaven, the animals at the Rainbow Bridge stood gathered as usual waiting for the Human Who Loved Them Best to accompany them the rest of the way into Heaven. Although each day they spent at the Rainbow Bridge was happy and without pain, sometimes the wait for Their Human lasted a very long while.

That morning, however, the animals noticed the most beautiful angel they had ever seen approaching the bridge. She wore a flowing gown that matched perfectly with gossamer wings. She didn't walk so much as glided across the landscape and the closer she came to the Rainbow Bridge each animal felt an overwhelming presence of Love.

"Who are you?" They asked in unison, rapture evident on their faces.

"I am an angel. The Father has sent me here to give you companionship so that you will never feel lonliness while you wait for Your Human."

"Never feel lonely? But how is that possible," they asked, "There are so many of us and just one of you."

"The Angel smiled and said, "This is Heaven, my dear friends. Anything is possible. There is no pain, no sadness, and no worry. Every day here is a miracle of happiness, joy and love."

And with that, each animal felt the angel's kind touch, a pat here, a rub there. And for ever after, each animal's day was filled with swimming, running, playing, scratching, and lounging with what seemed like its very own Angel. Whenever a human arrrived at the Rainbow Bridge, he or she would have to call their pet's name 3 times, as the animal was too busy having fun with the Angel. Every animal was surprised to see its Human, as it had seemed like only minutes had passed since they were ttogether on Earth.

Whenever a new animal arrived at the Rainbow Bridge, the Angel would greet it with hugs and kisses. The animal would ask, "What do I call you, Angel?"

She would answer, "On earth, most knew me by another name, but here in Heaven I am known as Annie."

Welcome home, Annie.
