Sometimes waves of grief just suddenly happen.

I was in the dentist's chair; suddenly, without warning, I was filled with grief and started weeping. The staff knew my husband had died........I explained it was sadness, not dental-related.

After a break, the dentist continued working and the assistant dried my tears.

Looking back, I guess it was feeling so vulnerable and out of "control." Also, I had been thinking about our fun outings after earlier dental appointments.

A few times in church I have wept. But other than that, not in public.

Have others had such waves of grief, in public?
