Hal,

<<Should I drain my checking account to pay this off? How much should I pay a month to get free of this debt? Any suggestions?>>

If you have enough cash in the checking account to pay this balance in full, DO IT. Be sure you're meeting your other obligations like food, rent, car payment etc. on time, but anything extra should go straight toward that balance ASAP. Credit-card interest is money thrown away before you've even earned it.

If you're not quite able to pay it all off right now, then send as much as possible (exactly how much that is is a question only you can answer, based on your income and other obligations).

Pay it down, and once it's down, don't charge it up again. If you're in doubt about your ability to use it more responsibly in the future, you'll be better off cutting up the card and calling Citibank to close the account.

Get rid of that debt and your serenity will come sooner
than you think :)
