Harborfool,

<<Would any Fool invest a small portion of his retirement funds into variable annuities if only for the compounding tax deferred status?>>

Yes………IF……….Our tax bracket was such that our prime objective was tax deferral of earnings; we had maxed out all other tax deferral opportunities (401k/403b/457 plans, IRAs); we couldn't do better in a taxable alternative; and we were willing to leave the money untouched in the annuity for at least 15 to 20 years. Otherwise, around Fooldom variable annuity products fail as the investment of choice.

Regards…..Pixy
