have an Inventory of all of my personal property that is in my house, with current dated photos. The date purchased, the price, etc. I have copies of this inventory in multiple secure places.

Another thing that can help is a video of each room in your house, that shows all the furniture, paintings, and other junk. It helps to remind you of what you have, plus it proves that you had it at one point in time.
