Have to throw my .02 in here.

I'm an easy going guy and try to help but having been burned one too many times I will never make deals to let someone give me money to pay for their hitting my car anymore. I always will call the cops and have a report filed with the insurance company.

I was at work one day when some guy came around the corner and hit my truck. Guy pleaded with my dad not to call the cops and that he would make good and even gave dad his insurance card to make sure we had the info. Dad bing in a good mood, and since he had License and Insurance info, let it ride till I got home. I called the guy and he acknowledged the accident and wanted to pay me to get it fixed rather than go thru insurance. I was agreeaable but told him it was my repair company, not someone he wanted. He said OK. Went out and got a couple of estimates and looked at their work and picked a company. When the time came to get the work done all of a sudden the guy backed out, said he had a friend who could do the work and wanted me to use him. Didn't know whether the guy was a professional or someone who did this stuff on the side but said forget it, we already went over that and the choice was mine. He argued and gave me a lot of BS and no money. Finaly turned the claim over to his insurance who said he had dropped out long ago. Finally had to go to my company who paid for it and went after him but I was out my deductible now which I never got back. So because that guy was a jackass anyone who hits my car from now on is going to have a mark on his insurance no matter how nice and sincere he seems. Not getting burned again.
