Having the IRS electronically accept the return makes a lot of folks more comfortable. Particularly if they don't trust USPS or don't want to deal with certified mail.

I, personally, think the e-filing fee is exorbitant, so I mail my return.

I'm with ETR on this one.

It really comes down to a trade-off on comfort level vs cost. Perhaps, in a year or two, when the cost of efiling on both Federal and State is in the $15-range, I might consider doing so.
