He is eligible for disabled handicapped parking. This doesn't necessarily help with doctor appointments, because many patients are eligible for disabled parking.

Won't necessarily help in shopping centers either, since people parking illegally in handicapped spots seems to be getting more and more common (at least around my area). Just saw 2 at the Target today of cars in spots with no tags/placards.
