While I know from personal experience that some people will shun openly gay people in the workplace, it's the shunee's decision whether (s)he's a victim or a head-held-high valued employee. (I assume that anti-discrimination protections are in place. If they're not, one is openly gay at one's peril.)

When I came out at work in 1974 there were some difficult moments, but there were also some wonderful ones. You pays your money and you takes your chances.
