I retired on June 30th from a company that had no continuation of Health benefits (or pension, either, but that's another story). I said to myself, "I'll just get private insurance. How expensive can that be?" Well, 4 months and a lot of frustration later, the answer is "Very".
Because I have Osteoarthritus, I have been turned down for coverage by two carriers, and after COBRA runs out (Dec 2001), I'm pretty much stuck with HIPP at $583 per month. Welcome to California..
Anybody figured out a way around that one ???
