And interesting article by Dr. Dean Ornish on eating for health versus weight. He makes some interesting points about how a diet that helps you lose weight may not actually be healthier for you. Of interest to me was his note about higher levels of c reactive proteins in the blood of people on high protein and high meat based diets. Combating inflammation was the main motivation behind the most recent (thought three years ago now) dietary changes I made. My husband and I both lost weight, and his back pain went away. We might have been able to lose more weight on a different kind of diet, and we both could stand to lose a few more pounds, but the reduction in inflammation has markedly improved his health.
