Hello Fools touring in AR,

Welcome to the Wonder State, aka the Land of Opportunity, home of the Razorbacks and several famous politicians who shall nevertheless remain nameless. We have mountains in the west (Ozarks north, Ouachitas south), delta in the east, and timber in the south.

My favorite restaurant is in North Little Rock near McCain Mall--Shorty Small's. The serve ribs; my favorite is St. Louis style pork ribs (whole hog), but you can get brisket, baby-back, whatever you like, plus all the trimmin's.

Some fairly important corporations in our fair state include Wal-Mart (Bentonville), Alltell (Little Rock), Baldor Electric (Ft. Smith), and Nucor-Yamato (Blytheville). Several timber/paper firms do business here as well, including International Paper (Pine Bluff), Georgia-Pacific (Dequeen), and Weyerhauser (not-a-clue). Murphy Oil is Hq'd in El Dorado.

One up-and-comer that you might want to look at is AERT. They have developed a practical use for some of the by-products (you know what that is) of the chicken growing and selling industry, involving companies like Tyson, Ralston Purina, and Campbell Soup (Swanson TV dinners).

Of all of these mentioned, I think Baldor (Ticker BEZ) has the greatest potential to become a Rule Maker. (Wal-Mart is already a Merchant King.) It makes electric motors, the computerized controls that run them, and their line includes several specialty motors that can run while submerged or in caustic chemical environments. The have developed a linear motor (no rotors) that come is several sizes and horse-powers. Their workforce is well-trained and well-supported by the company. (Yes, I own around 1k shares, so take what I say with that in mind. I have owned shares since around '92 and have been well-please with my results.)

That's it from Matoke. Have a good stay (virtual or otherwise.)
