It all depends on how much weight you have to lose and how fast you want to lose it. There are four phases, Induction, Ongoing Weight Loss, Pre-Maintenance, and Lifetime Maintenance. Most of the stereotypical comments about a meat, eggs, and cheese diet refer to the first phase, in which carbs are the most restricted. But even during Induction, one should also eat a variety of vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Induction lasts from two weeks to six months.In the later phases, one gradually adds fruits, dairy products, and whole grains back into the picture. By the time a person reaches Lifetime Maintenance, he/she is eating just about every natural food in existence.The only foods that are forever off-limits are white sugar, white flour, corn syrup, trans fats, and other artificial or highly-refined foods.
