I live on the Illinois side of the St Louis metropolitan area. A client of mine gave me her car to drive in February for one year while she's in Iraq. She asked me to take a driver safety course online so she can get lower insurance rates since my driving record is better than her's.I found out Illinois does not accept online courses for insurance discounts. I've called Geico several times to get phone numbers of on-site courses. Most of them are anywhere from one- to two-hours' drive away. The vast majority are around Chicago. The only course I found locally is through a senior center; it's not until the end of June and is only offered every two months. The local state police safety officer left a voice mail saying I should check with farm bureaus.I finally found a course for this Saturday in St Louis. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Illinois will accept it. The company giving the class has assured me that IL will, or my money will be refunded. With about 300,000 people in the metro-east area, I think it's a heck of a business opportunity for someone.
