Hi All,

Just thought I'd give everyone an update since layoff number TWO. I still haven't found a job, although I got a call from my headhunter that there is a local telecommunications company which is looking to fill a position QUICKLY for someone who is certified in Siebel, which I am. :) I am supposed to do a phone interview today, and hopefully will pass muster and be able to go in for a live interview tomorrow. Boy, I sure could use a good opportunity--here's hoping this is it.

My only concern about this position is that I'd like to do some research to try and see how this firm is doing business-wise, but they are private. My understanding is that they are doing fairly well, but I don't have much concrete info yet to back that up--I just barely heard about this position. If anyone has any brilliant ideas about how to get a feel for how a PRIVATE firm is doing, I'd appreciate them!

Thanks
d

Diana,

Private companies are tough, true. What about D&B? I'm sure there's a fee involved, but for pitch #3, it may be worth it? Hmmm...now that I think about it, you may have to find an associate who has access to their services to pull the report - may not be available to us John Q. Public types.

My wife unfortunately works for a tiny corporation that probably won't last much longer, and she recently opened a letter from their general liability insurance company - cancelling them for a bad Experian CR. I had no idea that CRA's covered small companies as well. Maybe you could somehow check on your prospective employer that way? Private companies, unfortunately, are called that for a reason...*grin*

Hope these help.

H

Diana,

I just prayed for you to find a new (& good) job quickly. Have you checked out the "Ask the Headhunter" board yet? He seems to offer good advice.
Good Luck and keep us posted.
