HAL and SLB are pretty poor comps. As far as I can tell there is no other nearly pure play diagnostic service that is public and researchable

If natgas catches fire clear the basins--it'll be one h*ll of an explosion :) And you are spot on-- you need field research to find out who is who and doing the work well.

If natural gas resumes growth and oil stays high enough to support shale work, CLB is going to do very well. That would be a definite catalyst to look for. The shale gas wells are difficult and CORE can advise operators on the best rates to run them at for maximum recovery.

I like SLB and they are getting cheaper. I only had one issue and that was the big expense of share repurchases just to offset options and still outstanding shares kept increasing. They buy them like clockwork no matter what the price is. The 1.6% dividend is useless
