Hey, gmaxwell!

Perhaps a bunch of folks got an early start on the weekend. ; )

Anyway, here's something I've been thinking about...again.

Every so often, the news has that same story about the dangers of the Social Security system, and how it can't be expected to finacially survive down the road.

Of course the reason for this is that the system has completely changed from what it was intended for.

Personally, I can't stand having money taken out in Social Security, though I understand why it's supposedly necessary. My gripe however, is that Americans should be able to have some choice in where that money goes. Why not have a system that says, contributions to SS is mandatory, but here are the available [funds?] where you're money can be invested--something like a 401K type of savings.

I guess, if I really had the answers for this, I'd be some well known government official, instead of a rambling Fool on a Saturday morning. ; )

...but I still am...
