Hey Mike,

My brother is at FOB Kalsu in Iraq, 3rd ID. I have a deep appreciation for what you and he and all the servicemen and women do. Thanks!

As far as getting your house, I know its something you definitely want to get done, but I would wait until you have a chance to spin down from the deployment. Save and build 6 months worth of an emergency fund, and then start saving towards a 20% housing DP. Its great that MO has such affordable housing prices, but remember that it might be really hard to get an IT job there. Here in Boston, we have a dearth of IT jobs but houses start at around 300-400K. So I would save aggressively and live a modest life for the next year or two. You might have to take a non-IT job while you work your way through school for the next year. There's absolutely no shame in waiting until you're ready before buying a house. People are trying to scare people into the market saying 'best buyers market ever, hurry up', but there's no reason to hurry at all. You've got plenty of time and a boatload of oppourtunity in front of you. The less debt and stretching you do, the better life ends up being!

Good Luck!
