My initial thought is the midi's themself were not recorded as GM,....

I've ruled out the Cakewalk and PC setup, mostly because:

- I've tested this on several midi files I've had for the last 10 years, all recorded/composed as GM.
- This whole setup worked/works with a Virtual Sound Canvas, my Ensoniq MR76 in GM mode, and previous synths (Roland MGS64 and XP10).

The only way it seems to work is when composing a brand new song in Cakewalk, it will take the initial patch in a channel. But after that, if I try to change the patch for that channel, the Nanosynth ignores it.

It's just weird, that's all.
