Hey Regattagirl, don't be too hard on yourself. At least you woke up. Yes, you're going to have to face the music (jump in the boat with me, willya?) and start paddling, but YOU'RE DOING IT. There are so many people out there who live in denial, sometimes their whole lives, and never get straightened out. Then they end up in retirement living on a shoestring, depending on the (hopefully) contributions from their offspring. Trust me, I see this all the time and it's not pretty. The year coming up is not going to be my most comfortable, but I have a goal (take the family to Hawaii) for which I want to pay cash and I also want to get my debt way down before I go. It won't be non-existant unless I win the lottery, but it will be manageable, AND I won't have to worry about paying off the vacation when I come back. So I'm going to save a little and pay off a little and CHARGE NOTHING in the meantime. You can do it, too.
