Hi Christina!

I won't be able to go to this, but last week I was able to attend the Specialty Food Show at the Javitz Center. A close friend works for the company that runs the show, so we got guest tickets (it's only open to trade people).

What an amazing show! We walked around all day, and never got to see all of the exhibits. We tasted everything imaginable and brought home a shopping bag full of samples that literally weighed 50 pounds. My arm was sore for days.

But we didn't over eat during the sampling because we had planned to finally try a restaurant on the east side that I was anxious to try after seeing it on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. It's called The Redhead. The address is 349 E. 13th St, and I can't tell you how amazing (and reasonable) it was. We started with their homemade soft pretzels that come with a beer cheese spread. For the main course we had the fried chicken. This is what they are really known for, and once you have it, you know why. You can hear the crunch down the block! So juicy and not a trace of grease. Yummy!!! Came with a spring salad and corn bread. If you get the chance, you have to check it out. It's only open for dinner though, so they don't start serving until 5:30, but the bar opens at 4.

...but I still am...
