Hi Deesse,

I have chosen a real estate agent to help me find a house. The only problem is, I had been deciding between TWO agents.
How do I tell the agent I didn't choose that we've gone with the other person? I feel so bad!

Did you lie to either of them, or do anything else your Mom wouldn't approve of? If not, there's no reason to feel bad... they're both in a competitive service and sales profession, and should be mature enough to grip reality.

Take a moment and ask yourself;
1) Why did I choose the person I did?
2) If I was the one not chosen, would I want to know how I could have got the business?

If you think the non-chosen person COULD have won your business had they done something differently, then the greatest gift you can give them is to let them know. Definitely start out letting them know that you'v absolutely decided on the other person (so they're not compelled to try to win you back,) then tell them what the other person did to win the business, or what they failed to do.

Trust me, they WILL be very grateful to you. If you treat them this way it is worth mucho money in their pocket down the road by improving their practices... and although they may be dissapointed now, they'll be glad you helped them.

Cheers,
Dave Donhoff
we're all in sales...
