I have a set of Derwent although I've not used them much, but it says they can be dry blended. I really like Prismacolors best, I think they're richer. One hint on using colored pencils - don't be stingy and go too light. The trick is to build layers of colors and accomplish your blending in that manner. Also, you can use a white or beige "base" (fairly thickly) and then build your colors upon that - it will allow for very smooth blending. I'm jealous, I wish I had time to get back into it. Have Fun!
