I saw your post on Best of and wandered in.
The progress you and your DH made over the years is amazing. Keep it up!!

Regarding the replacement of engine, its great that you have found a way to get it done at the minimal cost possible. I guess this is where a good knowledge of cars and engines pays off.
In our case, even if we knew of an engine waiting to be salvaged and someone offering to do the work, we do not know enough about engines to judge if its a safe one. So, we would probably have gone the route of going to a dealer to get the engine replaced, at a higher cost.
(Actually we probably would have gone the route of getting a new to us car, but your post has given me a great alternative, in case we ever need it).
