Hi Mudster, thanks for expressing your concern. I have a couple of comments:

I am paying to read financial news, not political opinions.

First, the Take is just that... a take. It is by design opinionated. Yes, you'll be able to get a feel for the major financial news of the day, but you'll also normally get the writer's opinion, or take, along with it.

Second, you failed to paste the next two sentences of the paragraph: "Suddenly, everyone is returning to the view that defense spending is likely to be heading higher in the years ahead. After all, Iraq isn't the only geopolitical threat to peace."

These two clearly tie the remark that offended you to the financial implications.

I'm not the author of that piece, and I'm not saying I agree or disagree with what he had to say... I just wanted to express my opinion, also.
