Hi Pos,

"If you meant the US investor, invest in the same places that have always made sense: those industries and businesses where there is a good business model, strong profitability, good business prospects going forward and honest management.

Yes, I was speaking of the US investor. I'm grateful for the help of all of you who assist in finding the type companies you describe.

"The second thing is the phrase "our influence lessens".... I don't see that with our armies occupying two countries in the middle east and two more still considered part of the "Axis of Evil". Being the most consumptive nation is not without its influence as well.

I do not say we are without influence... the decline may occur over many years or much more abruptly or not in our lifetime.... However many do resent our being a policeman in the world. As for being the most consumptive nation in the world, yes we are. Some time ago as I recall that every child born in the US consumed ~6 times the worlds resources compared to 3rd world countries, and that number seems low to me so I'm probably wrong in the wrong direction. I think our consumption will be declining in years to come as people find its time to pay down their debt and increase saving for retirement.. also many lost jobs have been replaced by lower paying ones that put real pressure on the finances of many folks.

"However, the currency by which the consumption is paid for.......that may be quite the story unfolding....

As in the decline of the dollar and the rise of other currencies? That will in itself reduce our consumption as products from abroad become more expensive. I have stirrings that there may another "currency" in which our consumption is being paid for... but that may be a topic for a different board.

Regards always, Ken
