Not sure hidden gems is only value stocks? I believe it is "small companies of the big radar" kind of stuff - I.e. could be growth stocks too? Anyway; if value one should compare with the small cap VALUE index when comparing the performance with the picks.

That said; you already have a well diversified portfolio and a systematic approach to your investing so you will be fine no matter what!

Hey if you fail to beat the small cap (value?) index you can always start a stock picking newsletter for extra income! ; )
