Hi Wildgirl,I wish you all the best in your new carreer.. I went thru a correction officer training course, did my internship and was hired at McNeil Island Corrections Institute in Washington.. I lasted about 6 months. The job isn't difficult.. one of the easiest jobs I've ever had, the atmosphere however is something else.. Being arround criminals every day does something to your outlook on life and faith/trust in humans.. Plus, being a female working at a male correction institute presented a whole new set of issues. When they moved the "sexual predators" (the ones that will never get out of jail) into McNeill I quit. I went back into my original field in computers. I guess I don't have the temperment to be a corrections officer.. I have a great respect for the people that work there.. I do have one piece of advice: don't expect to help/rehabilitate anybody in there.best wishes, devlishz
