Hmmm, to me it's almost like "how to fund the pyramid scheme to keep it going" - the "pyramid scheme" being the belief that's been marketed to middle class families that college education no matter how expensive is vital and now they're being sold that if their 9 year old child doesn't participate in things like soccer he/she won't get into college. College education is like the housing bubble - if money keeps pouring into it, it will keep getting more expensive.

Don't know how soccer gets dragged into this.
