hmm...where do you suppose your moral code comes from? Certainly not from the loving god who threatens me with eternal torture in a pit of fire if I don't do exactly what he says, even though he has given me free will to not do exactly what he says. And say, what is it that's "exactly what he says"? Every religion seems to have different rules. Which religion should I pick? Careful, there are 28 major religions in the world today, and several thousand offshoots of them. Do you think you are responsible for developing your moral code? Yes. I had help from people along the way who taught me to value life, be kind to others, learn as much as I can, and so on, but do I think it came from some set of rules written by illiterate sheep herders during the bronze age? No, not really. But presumably they had some of the same kinds of experiences and came to some of the same conclusions as I. That doesn't make me want to emulate them in everything, otherwise I'd be keeping slaves, stoning my children, and selling my daughters in the corner market.
