Saw The Hobbit last night.

Without any spoilers, it was OK. I found that it didn't seem like three hours, but it was, so that is good. The pacing was fine, the story was fine. The ONLY complaint I had was the SFX. What the heck did they do? The entire time I'm watching I'm aware that none of that was real. Sometimes to the point where the thought "that doesn't look right" ran through my head.

I did not experience that with Lord of the Rings (the entire trilogy). Something in what they did made Hobbit look not-real, and that was very disappointing. Maybe it was the 3-D, or something in how they did the SFX, or maybe even the combination of the two created the effect.

For all the hype about the visuals, they weren't as good as LotR. They just weren't. I hope they fix it for part 2.
