Clever. Obviously the curvature of the plate is what it is. Not optimized in any way. But still a good idea.

Cowboy Studio should jump all over this. The cost of mainstream light modifiers is rediculous considering the costs of manufacture.

While one can't argue with the cost, there are some cheap alternatives that are
a bit more elegant. I got this 8X10" "softbox" for $8.00 and free shipping on eBay.

It folds up flat for storage, and opens up to be a (roughly) pyramid shaped box
with highly reflective inner surfaces, and straps directly onto the flash head.

Mounted on the camera it looks like this:

Held at arms length for an I-shot-myself portrait it gives nice even light, and does
a creditable job of presenting an old guy.
