Dear Architecture buffs,I am currently reading the book "Art Nouveau 1890-1914" which is the guide for the amazing exhibition by the same name at the National Gallery of Art in D.C.Here is a beautiful Hotel, which I surely plan to visit and stay at when I go to Belgium and is by the great architect Victor Horta.Take some time and click on all of the links;http://www.users.skynet.be/archit/BE.htmAs I read thru the book I will continue to post on some more Art Nouveau Architecture. Can you imagine taking a weekend and flying to Belgium dressing in the early 20th century clothing and just imagining that you were there in 1898 when the building was erected. I can't wait for Nokia to take off someday for there is a whole world out there of Architecture to investigate. For those interested in the architect Victor Horta here is more on his life,http://belgium.fgov.be/abtb/culture/en_703011.htmThe amazing thing about these Art Nouveau artists is that they all lived very long lives. I would imagine that this is the result of making a very good living and loving what you are doing at the same time. Oh to be an artist instead of a businessman. I feel like Conan Doyle did when he wanted to be a Romance writer but his talents were in mystery writing. I am good at stocks but my passion is Aesthetics in all forms. Stocks pay the bills and art nourishes the soul and keeps me going. Prepare to be bombarded with buildings from now on from this period for I am devouring it at the moment. For those interested the east wing of the National Gallery was designed by my favorite architect I.M.
