How did you see Howdy Doody and Ozzie and Harriet? Are there DVD's?
I enjoy the Beav when he actually acted his age.
I love all the Westerns that you mention except for Have Gun, Will Travel.
It's a bit melodramatic for me and I snicker everytime he calls his Chinese servant, "Hey Boy".

Yes ... I've taken a little tour through the mid-fifties of late. It's quite a thing to watch something that you first saw half a century ago through baby eyes.
Quite a few of the Howdy Doody Shows are now available on dvd. (a friend of mine gave me netflix for 6 weeks and I pillaged their store of old tv dvd's). A great number of Ozzie and Harriet are available as well. From when David and Rickie were young kids to when they were married! (the first 'reality tv' where we went into their homes and watched them grow and change!)
The Westerns are great as well. Did I mention Maverick? It's really one of the best, but they've thus far only put out 3 shows! I liked Have Gun a LOT as a kid ... and the Rifleman .. they're both ..'interesting' to see now. These are all from the first days of the birth of a new medium and it shows. They're simple and direct and, of course, B&W. But WELL worth a look in later age! I've really enjoyed them.
