How do the wash sale rules apply to Options? For example, sell a LEAP on a particular stock and buy another with a different strike price and expiration date on the same stock. Must you wait 30 days to avoid wash sale rule? Does this also apply if you sell the stock and then buy an option on that same stock? Must you still wait the 30 days?
