How do you compare the Noriega and post Noriega periods?

Is visiting the canal something people do very much?

How do you evaluate JC's decision to turn the canal over to Panama? My impression is that the canal is being managed quite well these days, especially with the major investment at expansion that is underway.

Seattle Pioneer

The fact Noreiga is not there in power the people of Panama love their freedom. He separated himself from the people and added a lot of corruption. Noreiga tried bombing one of our friend's store when in was in power.

Visiting the canal and taking a tour is worth it. 100 year old structure is holding up. It is something to be proud of.

JC decision about the canal was a great decision even though according the treaty, we can take over anytime we want. There was some major conflict occurring between Panamanians and Americans Canal Zone operated by us that was not being reported in our American news.

It was peaceful way of giving them operating rights, and we don't have to get tied up in their government and keep a friendly relationship with the Panamanians. If JC had not done that we would be paying a higher price for that decision now.
