Could someone please explain to me how EE/E bonds are valued? I understand that they are bought at half the face value, but at maturity they are at full face value? That seems like a sure bet on doubling your money. But I am not sure if my thinking is correct. I've looked at a dozen websites, but still am not sure about these bonds. I'm more impressed wtih I bonds anyhow. But I just wanted to get a better understanding of EE/E savings bonds. Especially since my Money market fund interest has fallen sharply. And what is the difference in E and EE bonds? Thanks!
