This is a general question to all here: how’s business?
I’ll start off by saying for the first several months this year it was bloody awful. I run a marine service company, Brigantine Marine, and it’s highly dependable on a cyclical season yet this year what with the weather being behind schedule so are sales.
But I can’t blame the weather so much as how the economy is affecting sales. As a result, our debt level rose sending bills into 60-90: income enabled payroll, lease and utilities but we paid our suppliers in dribs and drabs.
I reduced inventory to a minimum. Sales of items we didn’t have in stock were delivered from a supplier after the sale and consumables were just-in-time.
Of course, the supplementary question is do you feel you can continue? Your industry could be burgeoning yet those I have talked to elsewhere than here are more than slightly pessimistic. That said, there are others who say they’ll stick it out.
